SHEER LAYERS

THE NAKED BODY.

IT IS NATURAL, YET A TABOO IN MANY SOCIETIES.

SOMETHING WE SHOULD NOURISH, BUT YET HIDE.

MARK TWAIN HAS SAID: 'CLOTHES MAKE THE

MAN. NAKED PEOPLE HAVE LITTLE OR NO INFLUENCE ON SOCIETY.'

IN MANY MINDS, THE CLOTHES MAKE US WHO WE ARE.

IT IS OUR WAY OF PROTECTING OURSELVES WHEN WE FEEL DISCOMFORT OR THE WAY OF REPRESENTING OURSELVES TO THE  OUTER WORLD.

IT IS FOR SO MANY, THE COVERING LAYER THAT DEMONSTRATES WHO THEY ARE.

BUT WHAT IF THE CLOTHES, EVEN WHEN LAYERED, ONE AFTER THE OTHER,

STILL SHOW THE BEAUTY OF OUR BODIES?

WOULD THE CLOTHES LOSE THEIR PURPOSE AND THROW THE  WEARER INTO THE WILDERNESS OF DISCOMFORT?

OR WOULD THEY CREATE A FEELING OF FREEDOM OF A FRESH SPRING DAY?

DURING THIS PROJECT, I WAS WORKING CLOSELY WITH MY PERSONAL STRUGGLES OF COMFORT VERSUS DISCOMFORT AND REVEALING OR HIDING THE BODY.

WITH LAYERING TRANSPARENT MATERIALS I AM TRYING TO FIND A WAY

TO THROW MYSELF IN THE DISCOMFORT,

BUT ONLY TO REDISCOVER THE HARMONY WITH MY DESIGNS

AND TO GIVE THE WEARER AND OBSERVER THE

OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE THE  SUBLIME FEELING OF

FREEDOM WHILE STANDING ALONE IN THE VAST WILDERNESS.
